Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating injections are frequently administered to treat excessive sweating. This can be extremely effective for the armpits, palms or soles of the feet.
Sweat reduction otherwise known as hyperhidrosis treatment is a procedure used to eradicate the condition known as excessive sweating. This problematic issue affects people mainly the underarm area but also the palms of hands and soles of the feet. This condition is of course exacerbated during the summer months which in severe cases can impact people’s daily life.
Fortunately at the Revital Lab we use Botulinum toxin (Botox) to significantly reduce sweat production from the sweat glands. Patients often report a significant improvement within 1-2 weeks post treatment.
Botox for Hyperhidrosis and How it Works
Botox is an FDA-approved treatment for hyperhidrosis, a condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what is needed to regulate body temperature. When injected into the sweat glands, Botox temporarily blocks the nerve signals that trigger sweat production, effectively reducing excessive perspiration.
Botox works by targeting the sweat glands and blocking the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals the sweat glands to produce sweat. By inhibiting this signal, Botox reduces the excessive sweating in the treated areas. The procedure is relatively quick and involves multiple small injections into the targeted areas.
What to Expect During your Sweat Reduction Treatment
During your sweat reduction treatment with Botox, your practitioner will first assess the areas of excessive sweating and clean the treatment area. A numbing cream may be applied for comfort, and then Botox will be injected into the targeted sweat glands using a fine needle. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and may cause mild redness or swelling at the injection sites, which typically resolves quickly. Results begin to appear within 4–7 days and last 4 to 12 months, with minimal downtime.
